Climate in Mauritius

Mauritius ClimateMauritius offers a very pleasant climate and thus an ideal traveler’s destination for all year around. Mauritius, a tropical island has only two seasons i.e. summer and winter as compared with other countries of Europe. Summer starts from November and sustains up to April, when the temperature reaches around 26° C on the coast and 22° C on the central plateau. Whereas, the winter begins with May and continues till October then temperature falls about 22° C on the coast and 18° C approximately on the Central Plateau.

Having the highest temperature of 28°C, January and February is the warmest month when cyclones or tropical storms also occur. July is the coolest month bears a lowest temperature of around 21° C and a little more cooler on the central plateau. In summer sun shines about five in the morning to seven in the evening and in winter from six in the morning to six in the evening. From December to April Humidity remains highest but never goes intolerable, mainly on the coast where there is a regular sea breeze.

Though the island can be explored all through out the year, but the best recommended period to go for a holiday in Mauritius are either April to June and September to November. A prime constituent examination of rainfall records of 11 stations out of the main 200 stations in Mauritius reveals that 70% of the difference is common to all stations. Rainfall in the summer rainy period, November to April, is intimately connected to the location of the subtropical high pressure restraint over Eastern Australia throughout the earlier months.
